Enable Conversational, AI-Powered Text Conversations with Direct Text

Some guests prefer calling and some prefer texting. What’s important for restaurants is that they can meet customers where they’re at, regardless of channel.

Texting has become one of the most immediate and widely accepted ways for businesses to connect with customers. Industry research shows SMS messages can see open rates around a baffling 98%, and many are read within minutes.

For restaurants, that creates a huge opportunity. When guests want fast answers about reservations, parking, wait times, private dining, or specials, texting gives them a low-friction way to reach out on the channel they already use every day. And when operators can manage those conversations in one place, they are better equipped to respond quickly, prioritize important requests, and capture revenue that might otherwise be missed.

That’s why Slang is including AI-powered texting as part of its core Concierge.

Empower Guests to Text with Your AI Concierge

Guests can now engage with your restaurant, just as they would with your AI Voice Concierge. Guests can text to book, change, or cancel reservations, ask about seasonal specials, inquire about a lost item, make a private event request, and everything in between.
‍

A Unified Conversational Experience

Restaurant communication is often fragmented. Calls live in one place, guest follow-ups in another, and text messages can easily become disconnected from the bigger picture.

Slang changes that by bringing conversations into one unified experience in Slang’s Smart Inbox. Whether a guest calls or texts, your team gets visibility into what guests need and what requires action. Instead of juggling multiple channels and tools, operators can rely on one centralized communications hub, complete with guest details, call summaries, transcripts, and recordings, to stay organized and responsive.
‍

Tag and Prioritize Outstanding Texts

Not every message carries the same level of urgency. A high-intent reservation request, for example, should take priority over a question about hours.

Just like with calls, Slang identifies high-priority texts in Smart Inbox so your team can quickly spot what matters most. Outstanding text conversations are tagged and prioritized, helping staff follow up faster and ensuring important guest requests do not slip through the cracks.

Quick filters in Smart Inbox also allow restaurant staff to quickly hone in on specific texts. Filter texts by date range or by a slew of tags, such as an incomplete lead or a complaint.

That means fewer missed opportunities, better responsiveness, and more confidence that your team is staying on top of the conversations that drive revenue.
‍

Make Slang AI Your Centralized Restaurant Communications Hub

Adding texting as conversational channel makes Slang even more powerful as a centralized communications hub for restaurants.

Instead of treating texting as a separate workflow, restaurants can bring it into the same system they already use to manage guest conversations. The result is a more seamless operation, a better guest experience, and a smarter way to handle communication across channels.

With Slang AI Concierge, guests can reach you how they want. And with Smart Inbox, your team can make sure every conversation gets the attention it deserves.
