Slang now checks a restaurant’s public online inventory before booking a reservation through OpenTable, helping ensure that phone bookings follow the same availability rules operators manage online. Note that reservations are still created in OpenTable’s in-house inventory, and there are no new cover fees.
This update removes a major source of friction for restaurant teams, who previously had to configure in-house booking rules to honor both guests and internal staff workflows. By filtering availability through public inventory first, onboarding becomes simpler, booking policies stay more consistent, and restaurants can more easily manage last-minute closures, holiday schedules, and booking windows without extra manual setup.
Slang is integrated with OpenTable's Guest Search API so that Slang can automatically recognize your repeat guests the moment they call, enabling brilliant guest experiences from the moment Slang picks up.
We've introduced two new Smart Inbox enhancements: Missed Call and Voicemail Recorded tags, plus “Completed” tags for calls your staff handles.
Quickly filter and set up alerts for missed calls and voicemails to ensure timely guest follow-up when your staff was needed, but couldn’t pick up the phone. Voicemail transcripts and audio are fully surfaced in the same conversation record for quick and easy review.
Until recently, Slang was using conversation tags just to evaluate the guest interaction with your Slang concierge, but now Smart Inbox automatically clears Incomplete items that have already been resolved by your team, resulting in less noise in Smart Inbox and a clear signal of which conversations may need a human touch.
